What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a health care profession that provides services to individuals to regain, maintain, and improve normal activities when they are affected by injury, pain, illness, or disability to develop, maintain, and restore maximum movement and functional ability. This includes treatment where movement and function are affected by aging, injury, disease, or environmental factors.
A physiotherapist is a movement expert who can help you improve and manage your symptoms through hands-on care and education and can also give you a tailored movement-based exercise program as needed for your injury or disease. The aim of the physiotherapy treatment is to reduce pain, strengthen muscles, and improve mobility.
At Resilient Healthcare Clinic, your Physiotherapist will assess and evaluate your condition and medical history through a skilled physical examination to arrive at a diagnosis. Once a diagnosis has been made in the first session, we will then make an evidence-based treatment plan that suits your needs.
When should I see a physiotherapist?
In case if you have an acute injury or chronic pain that affects your daily life and your ability to do daily tasks, a physiotherapist can help you in those circumstances. Our Physiotherapist will work with you to treat sports injuries, acute, degenerative, and overuse joint and muscular problems, surgical rehabilitation, arthritis, concussion care, postural imbalances, and loss of mobility or strength. Physiotherapists will not only help you recover from an injury but will also work on a plan for preventing future re-injury.
What can I expect?
Your session with our physiotherapist will be unique because it is tailored to your particular needs. Your therapist will perform an assessment, diagnose your condition, create a treatment plan to achieve your goals, and then start the treatment plan. Treatment may include manual therapy, soft tissue mobilization, soft tissue massage, Electrotherapy modalities (including ultrasound, electrodes, and shockwave), Acupuncture, gait training, bracing advice, and exercise programs to address mobility, flexibility, and strength.
What should I wear?
On a first physiotherapy session, your physiotherapists have to do a thorough assessment, which involves a lot of joint movement and tests, so loose clothing at the area affected would help to do a detailed assessment. Please avoid using very tight clothing, which can affect the outcome of the assessment.
